We’re pleased to announce that Clean Power Research and Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) have been selected as winners of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA’s) “Future Grid Challenge.” The project will demonstrate distribution grid optimization with real-time load and behind-the-meter (BTM) PV power forecasting.
After the work on this clean-energy challenge is complete, Consolidated Edison will be able to achieve better power quality on their grid for feeders with high penetration PV.
“This is a high-profile opportunity to demonstrate the value that distributed PV forecasting can bring to the Consolidated Edison distribution grid,” stated Jeff Ressler, CEO, Clean Power Research. “By using detailed PV system data from PowerClerk® and advanced solar forecasting techniques in SolarAnywhere® FleetView®, we’ll be able to generate building-level PV power curves for real-time grid operations.”
The project’s focus area will be Staten Island, where there’s a significant number of BTM PV installations.
